Don´t miss this #2: The Red Button – Cruel girl

In Don´t miss this on 21 September, 2010 at 22:58

She´s about to cross my mind

Seth Swirsky and Mike Ruekberg, both successful songwriters, started co-operating in 2004. The result could be heard on one of the best CDs of 2007, The Red Button´s “She´s about to cross my mind“.

Listening to the songs on the CD is like taking an long tour of the history of modern pop music – from the shimmering sunshine pop of California to the raindropping, jangly Beatles´ guitars of Britain – via some trashy 60s garage! In short, everything a pop nerd needs a rainy day!

Besides working with The Red Button, Swirsky, a devoted baseball affectionado, has released two CDs under his own name, the latest Watercolor Day from 2010, an album with more american influences than british – Harry Nilsson and Burt Bacharach are two obvious references that pops up when listening to the CD. We´ll come back to that later on…

Rumour has it that The Red Button is to release its second CD later on in 2010. Until that day comes, we´ll have to make do with what we´ve got – and from that album I give you the excellent Cruel Girl, almost as good as the title track from the CD.
